first of all, you don't need a new car. secondly, you can't buy a japanese car. people say they last forever, but it's proven they don't. go american and buy a chevy cobalt or a ford focus. if you are thankful for what the brave men defending or country have given you, you will buy american

I think I just read the 2011 Honda Civic got a 2-star crash test rating. I would prefer the Accord honestly. I think it looks better. It's roomier. If you're going to get a four door car, better go with the bigger one. Getting a four door car says 'I plan on carrying friends' especially since you're a college student. Now unless you want the coupe, then it's totally up to you. You want a smaller Civic coupe or a bigger Accord coupe? I would probably still get the Accord coupe because once again, I think it just looks better. Now if gas mileage is a concern then you should definitely opt for the Civic. Far better gas mileage. But take a minute to research their crash test safety ratings. I think the Civic scored very low.

Either car would do nicely. It just depends on your wants/needs when it comes to interior size. The Civic is a nice compact car, whereas the Accord is significantly bigger as it is a midsize family sedan. If you will be carrying people in the back seat often, the Accord is a good choice for comfort (more rear leg room) Also, the Accord was recently updated for 2011 with a reworked transmission and aero upgrades for modest fuel economy gains.

The Civic is an all around good performer, but is getting a bit long in the tooth when compared to newer offerings in the compact car segment (Chevy Cruze, Hyundai Elantra, VW Jetta, etc). However, both are very reliable. I am a Honda fan myself.

If you can afford to wait a bit, the all new 2012 Civic will be revealed at the North American Auto Show in January, and should be in dealerships early 2011. It should put the Civic back in front (or at least close to it) in the compact segment.

I honestly say the Accord, because if you're a college student, I think you're gonna take a couple of friends out somewhere. Give them the best room. I experienced the crampy amout of room in my dad's Audi A4 (2006). IT'S HORRIBLE! Plus, the Accord get's an estimated 34 mpg on the highway (if you've ever seen the Chevy Malibu ads on the Internet, this makes GM total liars!) That's pretty good for a full-size car. And if you are going for the Civic, GET THE CHEVY CRUZE. It's SO much bigger than a Civic, plus best fuel milage (36 mpg highway). So it's between the Chevy Cruze and the Honda Accord. Try comparing them on Yahoo! Autos.
