Default 03 accord cam position sensor

My accord started running very badly today and I had my brother in law come hook up his code reader. It said the camshaft position sensor is bad and that it was misfiring on all cylinders. The car runs really rough (like its misfiring). Will the camshaft position sensor cause this? The car went from running flawlessly yesterday to basically not running at all today.
