Default intermitted oil lite honda shadow 600?

with correct amount of oil (about 2.4 qts) the oil lite comes on intermittly. Could it be the sending unit? This is a 2005 honda shadow 600

how old is the oil filter? A bad relief valve in an oil filter could cause your intermittant light. If the filter is old, I'd change that first.

it could be a bad sensor, it could also be a cut in a wire from the sender to the light that grounds the signal when the wire contacts metal-to-metal
