remove it, and take to an ultrasonic cleaner, or use a solvent (theres one called berryman chemtool carb cleaner), clean out ports and jets with compressed air

If you are not a Mechanic or mechanically minded with the tools. Do not remove the carby. Do as the first answerer suggested and use a spray cleaner directly into the carby at moderate revs.

As well put an upper cylinder lubricant into the fuel tank.

Use Carb or Break cleaner. Don't worry its safe if you don't't want to remove the part from the intake manifold then spray an elaborate amount on the carb linkages and in the throttle opening. then to clean the in side start the engine and spray the cleaner into the opening with THE ENGINE RUNNING. This is a quick clean method. Make sure that you hold the engine at a fast idle like just above 2000 rpm while spraying it into the opening. The engine will boog down.
