Default Can you chip and boost a civic?

Ive heard different opinions from friends saying you can and cant.. i want to boost my civic and also get a good quality hp chip can it be done? any info would be great. thanks

Of course! It can be done. However, depending on the amount of power or PSI you are going to have running with the boost your going to want to make some other changes in the engine such as the pistons but it can be done. But with a small or average boost power level(PSI) there should be no problems with having that bolted on.

Yes. You can absolutely install a turbo on your car and safely run 6-8 psi as long as your engine is in good shape. You do not need to swap out pistons but if you want to run very high boost I recommend a complete engine rebuild. Years ago it wasn't safe to boost high compression cars but modern tuning techniques and computers have made turbocharging high compression very very safe and reliable. NEVER rely on a canned tuned chip that are sold on the net or with bolt on kits. Engines can vary greatly depending on multiple factors and you will always want your own custom tune when you turbocharge your car in order to get the most out of your system.
