Default Honda del sol, 1.5L Or 1.6L?

Which is faster and why? and can you replace a 1.5L for a 1.6L? Deference's between 1.5l and 1.6l

It is probable that the 1.6L would be faster than the 1.5L.

The reason for this is that the 1.6 has a larger displacement. What that means is that it has a larger capacity to hold an air/fuel mixture in each cylinder than the 1.5L.

The 1.6 would make more power, if all other engine parts remain the same, but you would probably not recognize it or feel it much, if at all.

It is possible to swap in the 1.6 where the 1.5 is but for the price of the new engine and the labor, you're better off upgrading and modifying the 1.5.

The 1.6 will be.

Be careful though. There is a 1.6 with only 3 more horsepower than the base 1.5. If you want a fast Del Sol you need to get the 96-97 with the 1.6 vtec B16 motor.

When it comes to honda's saying 1.6 is kind of general, because you have the b16(twin cam vtec) and d16(single cam vtec or non vtec), which are two totally different motors. The d16's have a little bit more power then the d15's except for the two 1.5's with 3 stage vtec. Then you have the B16 which is also a 1.6 which is a totally different beast, this is a twin cam vtec and can rev to about 8k rpms. This motor has about 10ft lbs of torque more then the d16 and about 32hp more then the higher powered d16. Both motors have great tunability, but mod for mod the b16 will put down more power. The reason is the stock power difference. If you can find a clean b16 for good money, hop on it. Otherwise try to get a d16z6 (sohc vtec, 125 hp) or d16y8 (sohc vtec, 128hp), unless your looking to do a mini me swap which is another topic on its own.
