Default H22a or H23a without mods?

I have an h22 and my buddy has an h23. We haven't gone head to head yet but which engine would you think is better? I've heard both have good and bad parts to them though. Which would you recommend?

the actual h22a is a jdm motor, im guessing you have an a1 or something? either way the h22 is vtec and about 30 more hp than the non-vtec h23. h22 all day.
