Default Honda S2000 Delivers Sports Car Excellence

Torrance, Calif. - Sep 01 —

The S2000 blends pure sports car athletics with open top
driving and high-revving performance in one sharp-edged and stylish two-seat
roadster package.

The S2000 rewards the driving enthusiast with a potent 240 horsepower, 2.2-liter,
DOHC, VTEC 4-cylinder engine and a precise, short throw 6-speed manual transmission
along with tenacious handling and a perfect 50/50 weight balance. Although unchanged
for 2005, the Honda S2000 received significant improvements for the 2004 model
year including a larger displacement 2.2-liter engine with a broader power band,
a re-tuned suspension, and enhancements to the body and interior designed to
make the roadster an even more compelling track car and a more refined daily
driver.

"The Honda S2000 symbolizes the best of Honda's performance engineering," said
Tom Elliott, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "More
than just fun to drive, the S2000 puts Honda's advanced racing technologies
into a car that can be driven every day."

Standard features for the S2000 include a power retractable convertible soft
top, 17-inch aluminum alloy wheels, leather trimmed seats and High Intensity
Discharge (HID) headlamps. Dealer-installed accessories include an aluminum
hardtop and XM® Satellite Radio.

The S2000's high-revving, high-output engine produces 240 horsepower at 7,200
rpm and 162 lb-ft. of torque at 6,200 rpm. The dual overhead cam engine features
Honda's Variable Valve-Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC)™ technology
to provide maximum power and efficiency at both low and high engine speeds.
The longitudinally mounted 6-speed manual transmission is a compact design that
features a direct shift linkage with class-leading feel and short throws. The
rear-wheel-drive S2000 has a torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential for
excellent traction in both performance and inclement weather situations.

The S2000 uses a hybrid monocoque body and a "high X-bone frame" to achieve
exceptional torsional and bending rigidity for an open top sports car. The in-wheel
double wishbone suspension (front and rear) provides smooth and predictable
transitions under hard corning. The precise electric power steering provides
a direct and connected feel to the road.

The conceptual model for the S2000 interior was inspired by a Formula 1 racecar's
cockpit with a driver oriented control layout and large performance oriented
digital gauges. Standard equipment includes an AM/FM Stereo CD Player, power
windows, power door locks, cruise control, keyless entry and the S2000's infamous
red "Start" button.

For 2004, the S2000 received Car & Driver magazine's prestigious "10Best Car"
award along with being voted Edmunds.com "Editor's Most Wanted Convertible under
$35,000."
