  • Jack Harvey, Colton Herta complete Honda top four in INDYCAR Grand Prix qualifying

  • Third consecutive IndyCar Series pole of 2019 for Honda

Chip Ganassi Racing and Honda led the way in qualifying today for Saturday's INDYCAR Grand Prix, with series rookie Felix Rosenqvist claiming his first pole, while teammate and five-time series champion Scott Dixon will start on the outside of the front row, second.

Rosenqvist's pole is Honda's third consecutive top qualifying effort of the 2019 season, a streak begun by Takuma Sato at the Honda Grand Prix of Alabama, and continued by Alexander Rossi at last month's Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.  In both events, the pole qualifier went on to win the race.

Driving for Meyer Shank Racing, Jack Harvey will start a career-high third, with another rookie, Circuit of the Americas race winner Colton Herta, qualifying fourth for Harding Steinbrenner Racing.  Graham Rahal just missed out on advancing to the "Fast Six" final qualifying round and will start seventh, with Marcus Ericsson, ninth, and Sebastien Bourdais rounding out the top 10 for Honda.

Saturday's 85-lap INDYCAR Grand Prix starts at 3 p.m. EDT, with live broadcast television coverage on NBC.

Felix Rosenqvist (Chip Ganassi Racing Honda) pole qualifier, first IndyCar Series pole: "The first two laps [of final round qualifying], I didn't really feel like I had the [tire] grip [for pole].  But then on the final lap, there was something switching on [as the tires came up to temperature] and I was like, 'OK, this could be good'.  But honestly, I didn't think it was going to be [fast enough]. The field here is so tight. I looked up at the screen and we were P1. I just prayed it was going to hold until the end – and it did."
