No, unfortunately that is not how they attach. They have some kind of
plastic pin that goes in from under the car and also from behind the trim. I broke one pin off but it didn't help any. Remove them. There are nine black pins in the underside. They consist of two pieces (a middle and an outer piece. You use a very thin-blade screwdriver to pull the middles out of the outers. Then you remove the outers from the trim. At this point, you now slide the trim forwards about 3/8", then lift it away from the car to unhook it from the white side clips.
