Hey, have you put on any factory door edge guards? We grabbed a set for
my dad's Acura. What is this "seam sealer cutting tool" they include?
What does it do, and why do I have to do it?

From the instructions, it looks like it just roughs up the inside of the
door edge-or does it cut some sort of sealer that covers over the rolled
edge of the steel door? To make a flat surface for the door edge guard
to go on top of?

I've never installed replacement door guards myself, sorry.

The door guards that I am aware of stick on with tape adhesive and/or with
mechanical clips through the door skin.

With the stick-on kind you have to use special adhesive remover to clean up
the door skin's paint prior to installing the guards. "Roughing up" the
paint seems like a terrible idea. Tape-style adhesives as used on door
guards very much prefer a mirror-smooth surface for maximum adhesion.

The "seam sealer" cutting tool is something I'm not sure of. It may be
intended for the vinyl weather sheet that's between the interior door trim
panel and the steel door frame. Clip-style door guards require you to be
able to get inside the door to release the clips.
