Okay, I have a friend that has an 87 Integra LS and he cant pass smog. The
tech told him the timing was off and that was why... He doesn't have any
manuals for it and I cant find the timing marks. Does anyone have this info
or know where I can find it? Greatly appreciate any help, didn't find any
strictly Acura forums, so sorry if this is a bit off topic.

Crank pulley has two sets of marks filed into its edge.

Set 1: One mark on its own. That's TDC for the #1 cylinder.

Set 2: A group of three, located forward of the single one. The middle one
in that group of three is the specified timing mark.

You may have to search for some time in order to tell the marks from all
the rust. Put a dab of Wite Out on the mark so it's easier to find with the
strobe.

The plastic timing cover has a tendency to warp over time, so the mark
that's on the inner surface of the pulley gets covered, and you need to use
the mark that is on the outer edge.

Prior to setting the timing, you need to use a paper clip to short the gray
Service Check connector that's behind the top of the passenger kick panel.
This action prevents the ECU from attempting to monkey with the timing
while you adjust its base setting.

And if you need to turn the engine by hand, use a 19mm socket on the crank
pulley (pull the rubber plug in the fender splash shield), and only ever
turn your ratchet COUNTER-clockwise! Do NOT use the starter to "bump" the
engine over.

autozone.com has a free online manual specific to this Acura with the
steps for setting the timing that should back up or add to what Tegger
posted.

But be aware that getting older cars to pass emissions can be a
nightmare. I see more abandoned threads on this topic at honda-
tech.com.
