Set you cabin heater to maximum and turn the fan on hi. If the
temperature drops, you have a problem.

The '93 Accord uses a "dual-bobbin" type temperature and fuel gage.
So either an open on the ground side of the meter or short to ground
on the sending unit side can cause this symptom. Of course, the
meter could just be faulty too.

After overheating has been eliminated.

Check the open circuit voltage at the temperature sensor wire, with
the IG switch turned to Run(II); there should be about 6 volts.
Less than 6V. could be caused by a short to ground on the wire;
while more than 6V. could be an open (or high resistance) in the
meter ground circuit.

Good point. A symptom of that is the temperature gauge going straight to
red on startup.
