Default 2008 Accord performance differences?

Hello,

I was reading somewhere, which I cannot remember off hand that the 2008
Accord V6 coupe with the 6 spd MT will do 0-60 in 5.5 seconds. I was more so
considering the Accord V6 automatic 5 spd for the next car, than the manual.
So I was wondering what the 0-60 difference would be? No one seems to
mention it anywhere, but I would estimate about 5.8 or so. I have the EX-L 4
cyl with the 5 spd auto and I believe it does 0-60 in about 6.8 seconds.

To put this into perspective, the 2008 Accord V6 6spd MT does 0-60 in 5.5
seconds. The Aston Martin DBS V12 (used in 007 Casino Royale movie) with 500
hp does 0-60 in 4.3 seconds. You sacrifice 1.2 seconds and save around
$170,000.00. I think I'll go with the Accord, unless I win the lottery!

I know all this means nothing to most people, but I'm still into
performance, although when it all comes down to car buying I still want
comfort and convienience and for a bargain. So I'm not going to and get a
Pontiac G8 because its RWD and its a V8, and I don't want to spend more than
31k tops.

Thanks,

Al

Edmunds did an EX/V6 (automatic standard), and it clocked in 7.1sec
0-60MPH. Looks like a Camry will perform better at 6.5sec. So Honda's
computer-limiting throttle up to 20MPH had something to do with it.
However, Toyota's new U-series automatics had problems skipping gears.
Maybe that's solved now, but the U-series seem to be problematic. That
said, I hope Honda doesn't extend their TSBs again past 2003 with
their automatics.

"At the test track, the new Accord hit 60 mph in 7.1 seconds and ran
the quarter-mile in 15.5 seconds at 91.8 mph. That's a solid
improvement over the Accord in our last V6 Family Sedan Comparison
Test, but it's still well behind the Camry V6 that whomped to 60 in
just 6.5 seconds and scorched the quarter in 14.6 seconds at 97.3
mph."

Take it for what it's worth, but Consumer Reports recently removed the
current Camry V6 from their "not recommended" list. But I don't remember if
they added it to their "recommended" list or if it is still in the middle.
So perhaps Toyota got it right with the '08 or '09.

Haven't heard anything about 2005 and newer automatics having problems, so
perhaps Honda has fixed that for good as well.

Okay so Accord V6 auto is 7.1 seconds, maybe I mis calculated mine. It could
be around 7.6 0-60, but still the Accord coupe V6 manual is supposed to do
0-60 in 5.5 sec, so thats worth looking at. I'm just not crazy about driving
a manual in traffic, but I drive almost all highway to work and on an
average work day drive no more than 14 mi round trip. So its not like I am
going to be in bad and high traffic everyday. I wish honda accord would come
out with a sequential sport shifter or paddles.
