Default Mystery sputter and high rpm while idle

Is it possible my problems with my 98 Honda accord automatic EX are
related to an improperly or incorrect o2 sensor installation?

If that's the case, shouldn't the engine light come on? My car jerks
after idle or stopping and going.

Thanks,

Done an OBD-II scan?

Scanned the transmission's computer?

Not sure, but will ask the technician to do that today.

Another problem arises after bringing my car to the service shop again
to have the engine seals, water pump, and timing belts replaced,
certain times (not determined a criteria yet) the car will not move
out of 2nd or 3rd gear, in another words, the car won't drive past 30
mph.

Very frustrating, since I have a 2-year and 3-year old that depend on
the car for day care and preschool. We don't have enough money to
afford another car, and were making still making payments on this
car. I have about 2-years left to payoff.

Also, the factor that I invested 1,500 in the last couple months is in
the back of my mind.

Thanks,

Which shop did you take it to? Dealer/independent? (not that some
dealers are competent either)

What was the engine RPM when the car doesn't go past 30MPH? Redline or
nearly so?

If you're having more problems after services, it may be time to find
another mechanic. See if you can get good references from friends. If
the transmission behaves like that right after service, then I'd first
suspect that things weren't done properly (wires or coolant
temperature sensor weren't hooked up, etc).

Finding a good mechanic is hard. But understandably many owners cannot
do their own maintenance. Improperly servicing a good car can only
shorten its life, while the owner is out of good money too.
