Hi all - the "cover" on the key hole (driver's door) on my 2000 Accord has
worn out (it won't spring back)- the consequence is that water/dirt will easily get into the lock mechanism and door itself. Does anyone know if the entire lock cylinder has to be replaced in order to fix this? Either way, is this a DIY task or better left to a pro? Thanks! |

To prevent this in the future, go to Canadian Tire and get a spray can of Rust Check. Give ALL your locks a good dose of Rust Check so it spills out of the lock. Do this several times a year. Not only will the weather flap remain undamaged forever, but the locks will work more smoothly and will never freeze up in the winter. NEVER use dry graphite in automotive locks that are used in the Rust Belt! -- Tegger The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

Thanks very much - great advice (I have used the dry graphite lube in the
past - obviously the culprit!)
