Hello,
I have a 2005 accord ex auto with 39,700 miles on it. The battery is original and I went to check it today and noticed that the "green light" was no longer green but when I looked in the clear hole it was "white or gold" looking. The car starts okay other than this. I am thinking of taking it to Honda tomorrow to be checked. I am only thinking that it needs a new battery, but so soon??? Usually batteries go at 50-60k. Anyone have any ideas about this sight window on the battery looking like this? I never saw that before. Thanks, Al |

Hot climate kills batteries where we live in GA. The Honda replacement battery in my wife's 03 Pilot died just the other day after being installed 1 Nov 2005. My 01 Prelude's battery lasted about 2 years as well. |

I live in New England, so its mixed temps. Right now the daytime high is in
the 60s and night around 45. >> > Think it depends on where you live. Hot climate kills batteries where we > live in GA. The Honda replacement battery in my wife's 03 Pilot died just > the other day after being installed 1 Nov 2005. My 01 Prelude's battery > lasted about 2 years as well. > |

I have attached a link to their site to at least give you an idea what the color you are seeing means. I would take your car to a place where a test load can be applied to your battery and from the information provided you can get a good idea of the state of your battery. http://www.itwdelpro.com/battery.html |

Of course regardless of their results you may want to use your own judgement. If I had a doubt about my battery and knowing how New England winters are, I wouldn't gamble. I don't like getting stuck in the middle of the winter there (I lived in NYC / LI so I'm aware of the winters) when likely the battery will need the cold cranking amps to turn the car over. |

Thanks, I checked mine against the link and it looks like mine is low
electrolyte and unknown charge, although per visit to honda dealer they said it was normal. When I left there (without getting a battery) the green light was mysteriously back, so I am thinking they probably added water to it. > > I work for the company that has the patent on the "magic eye" feature > that I believe you are describing. > I have attached a link to their site to at least give you an idea what > the color you are seeing means. > I would take your car to a place where a test load can be applied to > your battery and from the information provided you can get a good idea > of the state of your battery. > http://www.itwdelpro.com/battery.html > |
