Hello,
I am noticing that the Honda Accord V6 and CRV uses a term about having Traction Control, and the Civic Si says it has Heliptical Limited Slip Differential. What is the difference? I had a 1990 Mazda Miata and it had basic Limited Slip because I had the Tier II model. My main question is what is the difference beween Traction Control and Limited Slip and if any one knows what the difference between Limited Slip and Heliptical Limited Slip is? Thanks, Al |

Basically limited slip adds traction, and traction control decreases loss of traction. A limited slip differential is an actual mechanical setup that sends power to a second tire when traction is lost on the drive tire. Traction control usually works by the computer applying the brake to the drive tires when it senses that traction has been lost. In some cars the Traction contrl also retards the engine itself to keep power from reaching the wheels. -- BlackGT2000 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BlackGT2000's Profile: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...?userid=336868 View this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=722055 http://www.automotiveforums.com |

Okay thanks for the info, that was just what I wanted to know. I was reading
that the Civic Si has alot of good safety features like 4 wheel disc brakes, ABS, EBD and Vehicle Stability Assist with Traction Control and Helical Limited Slip Differential. I also like tha auto locking feature and the automatic head restraints, alot of great features.
