What has largely gone unsaid in this thread and which needs to be
mentioned for some, I suspect, is that when comparing auto insurance
rates for two different individuals, you're almost always going to be
comparing "apples and oranges." What sometimes seems to be an endless
list of factors, well, factor in to establishing your rate. Where you
live, where you drive, how much you drive, your age, your
driving/accident history, your credit rating, your vehicle, and so on.

The point is to compare and when someone, like me, says that AARP or
Geico, or Allstate gives the best price, look at the margin of
difference and CONSIDER them. See what they quote you.

Also, check their rating, YOUR experience with them will largely follow
the ratings of AM Best. If they get a crappy rating, it's safe to
assume that any interaction with them after a collision will involve a
load of anti-acid tablets and a bad taste in your mouth.

Last couple of cars have had safety devices earlier ones didn't have - ABS,
daylight running lights, side airbags, etc.; I turned 50 (premium
automatically went down); I took the safe driver course, etc., etc. Anyway,
I'm now paying about $400/yr. less than I was about 10 years ago.

As said, " unless coverage was changed ". You changed you coverage by a new
car, possibly less expensive to repair, safety features, etc.!
Apples/Oranges.

OK, but that is an apples/oranges comparison.

Nope, particularly with the turning 50 effect.

Good comments. One could even apply them to what big box store is cheapest
or best or whatever--one would get many different answers. YMMV, they say.

Well, sorry if having more cars than drivers is such a heretic practice.
Just call me the devil... ;-)

There are many old expressions quoted by those that have nothing of value to
say.

Entienda?

It doesn't matter...Insurance carriers only are concerned about the people
who live in the same household or are REGULAR operators of the vehicles.
And of course any insurance carrier reviews the driving records of all
operators within the 3 year experience period (up to 10 years for DUI's and
other major violations)
