I'm not sure what the problem is, but it's happened three times in
the last 2-3 months or so. The first time I was on the freeway, and the engine stopped running. I honestly thought I'd hit the clutch or something and made the engine die. Since the problem didn't happen again and I had a belt replaced shortly after and nothing came up with the mechanic I thought it was nothing. Then again while I was idling. The engine simply died. I thought perhaps it was the battery, so I started it after a minute or two and drove around the lot to retun energy. it was fine for a few hours until i started driving home. On the freeway at 60 mph, the engine cut again. Everything was fine, the clutch was working. All my fliuds I fill montly had just been topped off and I had a full tank of gas and it cut. I let it sit for 10 minutes wehile waiting for AAA to answer their phone, tried again, and it started and got me home. The problem is that's 2 times in one day and I'm not sure whats causing it. I've done some research and wondered that it might be the 88-91 ignotor module recall but I just bought the car in March. SO I don't know if it was already done for the recall or not. I drive a fair bit for work and was hoping someone could help me out with this problem before it happen again on the freeway. I plan on taking it into a mechanic but to be honest I can't afford for alot of parts to be replaced on it right now. So any suggestions to reduce the amount of money I have to spend and confusion I have to wade through is greatly apprecaited. |
