I was thinking of purchasing some rims for my 2001 civic LX coupe and
was wondering if anyone knew what the largest size of rim/tire combo
that would fit without any mods so that I know what I should be
looking for. Thank you very much for your help.

The Tire Rack web site (http://www.tirerack.com/) should give you a
good starting point.
