Default dash brake light problem on 87 accord

I have a 87 accord hatchback.

The dash brake warning lamp lights up on the first press of the brake
pedal and stays on until the car is shut down.

The brake pedal feels firm and the brake fluid in the master cylinder
is full (no fluid loss). The car stops fine.

Since the warning lamp lights up on first application of the brake
pedal, I am suspecting a faulty sensor.

What type of sensors trigger this light in an 87 accord?

Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Thanks

Does the light say "Brake" or "Brake Lamp"? If the later, it's just a
burned out brake tail light.

Bruce.

Not necessarily a burned-out one. Corrosion in a bulb socket (or at
connectors) can raise electrical resistance to a level sufficient to make
the ECU think a bulb is blown even when it's actually lighting up.

Check on the brake fluid container cap. The sensor is connected to it with
two wires, may be the wires corrosion.

Thanks for all the replies, it is appreciated. They narrow down what
to check.

I will take a look and see based on the info.

Tony
