In reality, it rarely happens because Honda and Toyota engines are not known for being oil-burners, and are designed to withstand abuse. There are many engines that simply cannot tolerate dirty oil, or low oil, or overheating, because of their inherent design characteristics. It's not that anything is wrong with the design per se, it's just that these engines require more diligent care. This is especially true in some of the aluminum block engines, that cannot tolerate even a single instance of overheating before cracks in the block develop. > Scharf do us all a favor and just shut the hell up. Yeah it never happens with a Honda because a Honda can be 4 quarts low on oil and it still WILL NOT turn on the oil pressure light. That I know for a fact. Hmm, well my Sister has owned two Honda and they both used significant amounts of oil. My SO's old Camry used even more. My neighbors Camry lays down an oil smoke cloud every morning. I am sure these are not typical of "all" Toyotas and Hondas, but then they are untypical either. Do you really think a Honda four cylinder will take more abuse than a SBF Chevrolet or Ford? Ed |
