I have a 1006 Accord Ex 5sp Coupe with ABS. When I start the car the ABS
light comes on, goes off normally and then comes on again after 45 seconds. It then stays on until the engine is stopped. I know there is a early version of the Honda trouble code recorder some where. I'd like to find out : can I diagnose the problem from just the symptoms? where is the code recorder located (note later years had different and more comprehensive recorders)? if the repair requires an new ABS pump is there a fuse can I pull to turn off the warning light? |

You can guess...but you can't know. > where is the code recorder located (note later years had > different and more comprehensive recorders)? You need to use the code reader that plugs into the OBD-II DLC. Go to your dealer or a competent independent shop with that capability.. -- Tegger The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

1006 Accord?
If you mean 2006, just take it to the dealer and let them worry about it. If you mean 1996, it will blink out a trouble code on the light if you short the SCCS connector. Do you hear it attempting to pressurize periodically before the light stays on? If so, its toast and the repair cost is approximately equal to the current value of the car. If not, it could be a wheel sensor that can be more economically repaired. I still have the FSM from the '96 Odyssey, which used the same ABS system. If you get a code, I can look it up for you. You can pull a fuse to disable the system, but the light will stay on. A piece of electrical tape over it or pull out the bulb are the only ways I know to get rid of the light.
