I replaced my main battery on my 2001 Honda Accord EX (V6) and the loss of voltage to the Sony CD player caused it to lock down and require a CODE. So I guess I have to go back to the dealer, are they going to charge some fee for that? Mark |

You'll probably have to look in the paperwork for the SONY, or contact the previous owner. Try looking for NOTES: hand-written in your owner's manual. If you had a Honda stereo, this TSB from HONDA would have helped you: http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/tsb/misc/x98-026e.pdf 'Curly' |

I guess it looks kind of "sonyish" to me stylewise (maybe behind the scenes, Sony manufactures it for Honda). Mark |

Or, you can look through the things you were given with the car. If you bought it new, it should have come with the stereo code. If you bought it used, hopefully the old owner passed it on. Will the dealer charge you? Perhaps. But for just looking up the code, I don't think they should... |

Unless a record has been made of the CD radio player or you have the code -- look for a plastic card -- the dealer will have to pull the radio to get the #. That will cost you. |

Hopefully carmax has the serial because I really don't want to have the radio pulled. thanks Mark |

Here you go Mark recommended maintenance items straight from the
Accord Service Manual I suggest adding a valve adjustment at the first or second oil change, or around 7000 to 10,000k miles. ************************************************** ************************************************** ** 2007 ACCORD - Maintenance Main Items '06-07 Models ************************************************** ************************************************** ** If message ''SERVICE'' does not appear more than 12 months after the display is reset, change the engine oil every year. NOTE: Independent of the maintenance messages in the smart maintenance display, replace the brake fluid every 3 years. Inspect idle speed every 160,000 miles (256,000 km). Adjust the valves during services A, B, 1, 2 or 3 if they are noisy. Symbol Maintenance Main Items A Replace engine oil. Engine oil capacity without oil filter: 4.0 L (4.2 US qt). B Replace engine oil and oil filter. Engine oil capacity with oil filter: 4.2 L (4.4 US qt). Check front and rear brakes. Check pads and discs for wear (thickness), damage, and cracks. Check calipers for damage, leaks, and tightness of mounting bolts. Check wheel cylinders for leaks. Check brake linings for cracking, glazing, wear, or contamination. Check parking brake adjustment. Check the number of clicks when the parking brake lever is pulled with 196 N (20 kgf, 44 lbf) of force. With rear disc: 6 to 9 clicks With rear drum: 4 to 7 clicks Inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox, and gearbox boots. Check rack grease and steering linkage. Check boots for damage and leaking grease. Check fluid lines for damage or leaks. Inspect suspension components. Check bolts for tightness. Check condition of ball joint boots for deterioration and damage. Inspect driveshaft boots. Check boots for cracks and boot bands for tightness. Inspect brake hoses and lines including ABS. Check the master cylinder and ABS modulator-control unit for damage and leakage. Inspect all fluid levels and condition of fluids. Engine coolant Manual transmission fluid (MTF) Automatic transmission fluid (ATF-Z1) Power steering fluid Brake fluid Clutch fluid Windshield washer fluid Inspect exhaust system*. Check catalytic converter heat shields, exhaust pipes, and muffler for damage, leaks, and tightness. Inspect fuel lines and connections*. Check for loose connections, cracks, and deterioration; retighten loose connections and replace damaged parts. NOTE: According to state and federal regulations, failure to do the maintenance items marked with an asterisk (*) will not void the customer's emissions warranties. However, Honda recommends that all maintenance services be done at the recommended interval, to ensure long-term reliability. ************************************************** ************************************************** ************************************************** ******** 2007 ACCORD - Maintenance Sub Items ************************************************** ********************** '06-07 Models Number Maintenance Sub Items 1 Rotate tires, and check tire inflation and condition. Follow the pattern shown in the Owner's Manual. 2 Replace air cleaner element. If the vehicle is driven primarily in dusty conditions, replace every 15,000 miles (24,000 km). Replace dust and pollen filter. Replace the filter at 15,000 miles (24,000 km) intervals if the vehicle is driven mostly in urban areas that have high concentrations of soot in the air from industry and diesel-powered vehicles. Replace the filter whenever airflow from the heating and cooling control system is less than normal. Inspect drive belt. Look for cracks and damage, then check the position of the drive belt auto-tensioner indicator. 3 Replace manual transmission fluid Capacity: 1.9 L (2.0 US qt); use Honda MTF. Replace automatic transmission fluid Capacity: 3.1 L (3.3 US qt); use Honda ATF-Z1. Driving in mountainous areas at very low vehicle speeds results in higher transmission temperatures. This requires transmission fluid changes more frequently than recommended by the Maintenance Minder. If the vehicle is regularly driven under these conditions, change the transmission fluid at 60,000 miles (100,000 km), then every 30,000 miles (48,000 km). 4 Replace spark plugs. Use IZFR6K11 (NGK) or SKJ20DR-M11 (DENSO). Use IZFR6K13 (NGK) or SKJ20DR-M13 (DENSO) for 4-door SULEV model. Inspect the valve clearance (cold). Intake: 0.21-0.25 mm (0.008-0.010 in.), Exhaust: 0.28-0.32 mm (0.011-0.013 in.). 5 Replace engine coolant. Capacity (including reservoir): M/T 5.1 L (1.35 US gal), A/T 5.0 L (1.32 US gal); use Honda Long Life Antifreeze/Coolant Type 2.
