Hi,
My DRL module is not working properly. The honda dealer quoted $120 + labour to replace this. I was thinking if it is a matter of resoldering it I may attempt it myself. But my haynes manual doesn't tell me where the module is located. So any information about it's location and if it can be re-soldered will be appreciated. Thanks. The car is a 1998 accord dx. |

The car is a 1998 accord dx. --------------------------------------- I've been through this, but on a '97 Odyssey. Should be almost identical. Rest you head on the brake pedal (battery disconnected) look up and you'll see the undersides of several relays. The one with about 11 wires going in is the DRL. Don't even think of unbolting it. Just slip a skinny screwdriver under the edges of the cover and slip the guts out toward you. Unplug from connector and take inside to solder. Follow the techniques for Honda Main Relay (it's a similar problem). Do you ever get just one headlight working and a buzzing under the dash? That's a different fix. 'Curly' |

Thanks Curly..
The symptom that I experienced was when I released the hand brake (my car is a manual), usually an amber coloured DRL light on my dash disappears and I can see the running lights shinning on my garage door. Recently, I noticed that the dash DRL light stays on and the running lights don't come on. I didn't trouble shoot it further as I thought I can just turn the lights on by hand. I took the car to the dealer recently for something else and he said the DRL module needs replacing. I had always assumed it was some sort of switch in the handbrake that was causing the problem, but he insisted that it was the module itself. He also mentioned that I may experience some other light related problems. I haven't tested my high beams as I rarely use it. But I will. Thanks a lot for your post. I will check under the dash and see if I can do this myself. |

I did mine (DRL light was On when light switch was off) and everything
is cool now. It was so easy and you may want to do it before checking other things: http://www.nyx.net/~smanley/hondadrlfix/ roch77@gmail.com wrote: > Thanks Curly.. > > The symptom that I experienced was when I released the hand brake (my > car is a manual), usually an amber coloured DRL light on my dash > disappears and I can see the running lights shinning on my garage door. > Recently, I noticed that the dash DRL light stays on and the running > lights don't come on.
