Default Off topic.

This is an off topic question about my truck. I hope you don't mind me
tossing it out here as you guys are plenty sharp and helpful.

It's a '98 Silverado Z71, 5.7L, 4x4, K1500, automatic. I have had the truck
since it was new and it still runs great at 99,000. Yesterday all at once
the ABS light came on, the speedo quit working, and it seemed like the
tranny was jumping in and out of gear. Just as suddenly it all went away and
the truck ran fine again. I thought I felt a light activation of the ABS at
very low speed as I was stopping when I got home. I got a P0505 on the OBD
(Idle control system malfunction).

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks.

Jim

IF it was a HONDA, I'd say your ignition switch did a hiccup. Check for
corroded ground wires on all lugs, or has it ever been wet around the
computer? Just guessing.

Guess that means you DO mind me tossing it out here. Sorry. But thanks for
the tip.

No, that's not what I meant. I meant you will find many more GM experts
there than here.

The OT thing was meant to be a joke. It evidently fell flat.

The problem is, there are too many potential gotcha's trying to guess
what's wrong with a make other than what we specialize in. Not too many
non-Honda people are familiar with our Main Relay, for instance.

You know, since my car (I believe) has no main relay... Did Honda ever
issue recalls?

Gotcha.

I can be pretty slow on the uptake sometimes...

Thanks TeGGeR.

I do believe the Main Relay was only ever used in FI cars.

Maybe, but I've not personally come across any evidence of any Main Relay-
related recalls.
