Default How long can a battery last? More than 10 years?

I have a '97 Prelude that is 9 1/2 years old now and is still running on the
original battery. I heard of a '97 CRX today that is also on the original
battery.

Are these now typical lifetimes?

I am more used to 2-4 year lifetimes for batteries.

Typical for well-treated batteries not regularly subject to high heat.

My OEM Panasonic made it eleven summers and ten winters before displaying
signs of age and weakness. I then promptly replaced it with an Interstate,
which currently has almost five years on it.

4-5 years is the usual for southwestern US. However, I see by your traces
that you appear to be in the Raleigh, SC area. If you have never allowed
your battery to run flat, and have made it a point to replace the HT
igntion components regularly, then the battery will last quite a while
where you are.

Once upon a time, I owned a 72 chevelle. Bought it new, had it for 27
years, and replaced the battery only once.

best battery I ever had was in a 1982 Oldsmibile Cutlass, I bought October
1994.

replaced battery in December 1994, when they pulled out the failing Sears
Die Hard, it had a sticker on it that coded to July 1986.

8 years, 5 months
