Default 2003 Accord - cruise, a/c gremlin

Something weird happens about 25% of the time I crank my 2003 EX V6
Accord Coupe - the A/C never comes on, the cruise control is
inoperative, and the shift indicator on the dash doesn't show any
position as active.

If I stop the car, turn if off, and immediately crank it again,
everything immediately works normally.

I did manage to find a possible TSB, but all I can find is this
description:

"# TSB #03072 -- AIR CONDITIONER, CRUISE CONTROL, AUTOMATIC
TRANSMISSION SHIFT POSITION INDICATOR DO NOT WORK. *TT (NHTSA ID #
10004792, OCTOBER 03 2003)"

Anybody have any idea of what the cause could be? A relay maybe?

Go to the dealer and ask the question face to face. That should be free.
Good luck.

What does the TSB say about how to fix the trouble? Replace ignition
switch?

I don't have the TSB - just the words in quotes above. I can't find
any more details.

It's a 2 hour round trip to the dealer, hours of waiting, and a
diagnostic charge as well. If it is just a matter of replacing a relay
or something, I'd much rather do it myself at home.

Here ya go:
Service Bulletin 03-072

CUSTOMER INFORMATION: The information in this bulletin is intended for
use only by skilled technicians who have the proper tools, equipment,
and training to correctly and safely maintain your vehicle. These
procedures should not be attempted by “do-it-yourselfers,” and you
should not assume this bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your
vehicle has the condition described. To determine whether this
information applies, contact an authorized Honda automobile dealer.
October 3, 2003

Applies To: 2003 Accord V6 – ALL
A/C, Cruise Control, A/T Shift Position Indicator Do Not Work (DTC
U0155)

SYMPTOM
The customer complains about at least one of these
intermittent symptoms:
• A/C doesn‘t work.
• Cruise control doesn‘t work.
• A/T shift position indicator in the instrument cluster doesn‘t work.
NOTE: When this problem occurs, all of these symptoms are present, but
the customer may not notice them all.

PROBABLE CAUSE
A communication problem between the F-CAN (controller area network) and
the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).

CORRECTIVE ACTION
Use the Honda Interface Module (HIM) to update the PCM.

I don't think you can fix this yourself; it's a software problem, and
only the dealer will have the update.

Thank you, Gene.

Yes, it sounds like a dealer fix.

If this is a software problem, I wonder why the symptoms just started?
