... somewhat of my own making
![]() I was poking around (actually quite carefully) with a voltmeter to find a 12v supply near the radio to get me power to my iPaq and I somehow managed to blow the #8 7.5a fuse for the radio. Anyway, that should be fine ... except ... when I replace it with the 7.5A from the read wipers the radio still doesn't show any signs of life but that fuse does /not/ blow. The worst thing though is that now for some reason the central locking does not work - I checked the lock fuse under the bonnet and that is absolutely fine. Everything else is working OK but no C/L. Help on both! Oh - and where can I find an (ideally) always-on 12v supply to tap into? RB |

One makes it work in the ACC position, the other keeps its memory alive. The memory fuse (under hood) is the same one that's used to RESET stuff, and might be labeled Back-Up (radio). Check your manual. Mine is Gen 1 or I'd be more specific . . 'Curly' |

You, sir, are spot on
Others may also be intrigued to know that without fuse #9 (radio) in place you cannot drive an automatic car. I cannot imagine why this is but it seems the brake relay that allows the gear shift to be moved from Park is on the same fuse. I got rather a shock when I tried to drive out and buy a new fuse this morning until I just happened to try swapping them ![]() FWIW I spent 99p ($1.40-ish to you lot across the pond) and have at least for teh time being plumbed my ipaq into an external cigarette lighter adapter ![]() Many thanks, RB 'Curly Q.
