Default 1998 Prelude Starting Problem

I have had this car in to the dealer probably 6 times over the last few
years. The problem is that it is intermittent and it never seems to
happen when it is at the Mechanic. But they don't have to drive it and
get stuck. I wish at least that they might suggest what it Could be.

I will turn the ignition key everything lights up but nothing happens.
I turn the key all the way off try again and sometimes nothing,
sometimes it starts. Doesn't matter if it is cold outside or warm, nor
if the engine is hot or cold. It just happens.

Another car dealer Toyota said it must be an ignition switch that is
flakey.

True not true ?? Wouldn't Honda have suggested that if they thought
that was it.

It is getting worse and I worry that I may end up being stuck somewhere
far from home.

Any suggestions on what it could be or what I should try replacing. I
love this car but this is scary.

Try the checks at
http://www.tegger.com/hondafaq/faq.html#startrun

Pay particular attention to the checks on the main relay and
ignition switch.

I got five free ignition switches.

Weren't the Preludes part of the great recall?

Have you ASKED / BEGGED to see if you qualify?

Thanks for the link. It was very helpul. I realize now it can't be the
ignition switch since it was replaced in the Recall a few years ago. I
decided to try a different key as was suggested. It seemed impossible
that this could be a problem, however it has been 2 days and no
problems. I will keep my fingers crossed that it was just that.

Thanks.
