I was in Wal-Mart to buy some engine oil and I noticed that they now have store brand (Super Tech, I think) Fully Synthetic oil. The 5 qt containe sells for $12 something. Considering that "brand" name synthetic oils sel for 2 or 3 times that amount, I was tempted to give it a try, but didn't bu it in the end. Mainly because the owners manual states that you shoul still change your oil at the same recommended intervals whether you use din or synthetics But I do wonder if there is really any difference in the generic brands an the name brands. They both have the starburst symbol on the front and th sae logo on the back, and they both say they meet the same standar (currently SM). If they do meet the same exact standards, then aren't yo just wasting money by buying the name brands What do you think? Same oil regardless of brand, or do the name brands hav secret addititives that go beyond the SM spec that makes their oils better Si Sid i wouldent personally buy that cheap walmart brand of synthetic oil stick with quality well known name brands yes they do meet same standards like all others but basically put sid oil is always oil however what sets them apart is the "additive package" thats found in them you get what you pay for? dont go there -- johnin ----------------------------------------------------------------------- View this thread: http://www.carstalk.net/viewtopic-427754.htm Send from http://www.carstalk.ne |
