i've got a 94 pontiac sunbird LE and the driver's side inside door
handle is jammed in the open position. the door won't open. need
suggestions please

It happens to Hondas too, but the solution is different.

Get a repair manual and read the section on the body/interior/door. You'll
have to remove the outer components off the door panel (probably just the
handel) then pull the door panel to get at the mechanism(s) in the door.
Staighten any rods you managed to bend and have a look at the mechanism that
hits the door striker.

Or have a repair shop do it for you if there's any risk you'll damage
the door panel. It's replacement cost is more than the shop will charge for
labor.
