While I was changing the alternator, I turned the crankshaft pulley (while
the distributor was out), and I think the timing btw the cranshaft and the distributor is out off. The distributor rotor turns when I try and start the car, but nothing else happens. Does anyone have a clue as to what I can do? Thank you for your help. |

Like an ignoramous I did unfortunately turn the crank shaft while the
distributor was out. Thank you for responding, for this new info should help me out. I don't know what the coil is off the top of my head, so if you can give me an idea on where to find it, I would be most appreciative. Thank you. |

It generates the high-tension voltage that makes the spark at the plugs. If the distributor was out when he turned the crank then the base timing has
to be set. For someone that doesn't know what a coil is the only advise I will give is to hire a mechanic to put it back together. A backfire in the intake or exhaust could be damaging and dangerous to anyone close to the engine.....
