tegger is absolutly right forget the 3 click thing and turn 6 clicks next time but say tegger being he has an obd2 second generation onboard diagnostics computer. im thinking he might wanna try disconnecting battery cables for 5 minutes and put them back just to see if that helps to turn off gas light. now that the gas cap is tight ? i know on the older obd1 computers it would of reset the computer. and check engine light would go out and stay out if the problem was repaired -- johnin ----------------------------------------------------------------------- View this thread: http://www.carstalk.net/viewtopic-411673.htm Send from http://www.carstalk.ne |

Doing so will clear all the ECM readiness flags. These can take a while to "set" again, and depending on your jurisdiction, can make a difference in whether you pass or not. Reset the MIL correctly with a scan tool. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

Honda's proprietary OBD and California's OBD-1 did not monitor gas cap sealing. The gas cap thing became an issue in 1996, after sealed evap tanks were mandated, replacing the old solenoid-controlled vented-to-atmosphere tanks. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

What kind of misdesigned piece of shit do you drive that it can't calibrate itself within a few hundred miles? Are you the last yugo owner with an experemental fuel injection model powered by unfinished software? |

No, I was harping on your comment "Do not unhook the battery if you have an emissions test within the next six months or so." Substitute three days for the six months and you be closer to the mark. |

Some people don't drive enough to set all the flags quickly. I said six months to allow adequate safety margin. I said six months to allow adequate safety margin. > Perhaps it's longer than necessary for most people. > That last paragraph is a dodge-and-weave. I confess. I didn't know how long it actually takes to set all the flags. I figured six months would be long enough for even granny who drives three miles once a week to church. I did know it can take multiple full-warm trips to set them all. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |
