98 Accord, EX, 3.0 liter, 1600000 miles
I'm getting the code P0420: Catalytic System Efficiency Below Threshold I'm fairly certain that the catalytic converter is bad. First question: Can I put an aftermarket converter on and it satisfy the emissions standards just as a Honda converter does? In other words, will an after market converter pass all the same emission tests that the original Honda conveter does? (I live in Texas if the state matters.) Second question: Anyone know of a reliable maker of aftermarket converters for this car? Is WalkerExhaust good? |

Maybe if you put some commas inside your mileage listing you'd find such amusing errors before posting them. Why do schools teach kids to leave commas off anyway? > I'm getting the code P0420: Catalytic System Efficiency Below Threshold > I'm fairly certain that the catalytic converter is bad. Check for a cracked exhaust manifold or exhaust leak first. Are both your oxygen sensors inside the cat or is the primary in the exhaust manifold? > First question: Can I put an aftermarket converter on and it satisfy > the emissions standards just as a Honda converter does? There's a reason aftermarket cats cost $100 and OEM is $1,000. > (I live in Texas if the state > matters.) > Second question: Anyone know of a reliable maker of aftermarket > converters for this car?
