I have a 1994 Honda Accord LX.
Recently I had an antifreeze leak and had to have a hose replaced. The car was getting so hot that it started idling. With that fixed I then noticed that there is an abnormal amount of heat coming out of the vents when driving. (without the heat on of course). If I drive for long enough the temperature raises to an abnormal level as well. When investigated it was found that one of the fans was not working. This would seemingly be the cause...but then I've been told that the fan wouldn't even come on when driving anyway. So just a coincidence maybe? Any input would be greatly appreciated. J |

(without the heat on of course). Heater control valve is probably stuck open. Did they reconnect the control lever's wire properly? > If I drive for long enough the temperature raises to an abnormal level > as well. You mean the temp gauge on the dashboard? When exactly does the gauge begin to rise? In heavy traffic? Coming off the highway? On the highway? When idling? > > When investigated it was found that one of the fans was not working. > This would seemingly be the cause...but then I've been told that the > fan wouldn't even come on when driving anyway. Yes the temperature on the dashboard....
It would rise after my normal drive home, which doesn't include heavy traffic or a highway. Some light to medium traffic with no heavy amount of stoping and going. The thermostat was the first thing that we suspected and it checked out ok. |
