I have never been thrilled with the longevity and performance of the
Michelin Energys that Honda provides stock on the 94-97 accord. And the X-ones which I used in the past have been discontinued. To those who own a 4th Gen Honda Accord, can you recommend another tire model? My priorities are smooth & quiet ride, decent handling and steering feel. I have no winter requirements where I live. I tried the new Goodyear assurance tires, however the ride was bouncy will very little steering feel. I wonder if it is best to keep within the "Grand Touring All-Season" category for this vehicle. Thanks |

Which Goodyear Assurance tires did you try, the Comfort, TripleTread or some
other? The reason I ask is I'm getting ready to buy the Assurance TripleTread per recommendations posted here (and reviews from Tire Rack). If the TT's are the ones you tried, then I'll have cause for second thoughts. It they were the Comforts, I've read some similar things to what you are saying avout the Comforts. I agree the Michelin Energy tires are awful - designed for mileage and
deliver not much else. I currently have Michelin X-One on my 97 accord - handles very well - superb rain tire. Hard to break loose and if it does you can recover - don't think it is possible to recover traction with the Energy tires. Suggest you also consider Bridgestone Potenza - see tire rack for info - apparently quieter and very good handling. The X-One is fairly loud over concrete - some roads with a lot of ridges really make them howl. Also buy one of those $10 digital air guages - the old style jobbies with the pop out stick are not at all accurate - also run your tires at the max suggested on the door plates - which is 32# cold on my accord. |

Have you replaced the car's shock absorbers? If you're still using the original shocks, your tires won't perform as designed. Regardless of the miles, 10 years is a long time for OEM shocks. > I have no winter requirements where I live. > I tried the new Goodyear assurance tires, however the ride was bouncy > will very little steering feel. But you don't want more grip than the suspension can handle. Not good to hit a pothole at speed with a suspension lacking the ability to absorb impact. |

Hi there - I just put a set of Yokohama Avid TRZ on my '00 Accord- excellent
in all respects (comfortable, quiet & good handling) - my car feels a lot more sure-footed on the road (compared to the Michelin X-ones that I replaced). Well rated (on tirerack.com) and very reasonably priced compared to the Goodyears. <piclistguy@yahoo.com> wrote in message news:1143422665.363954.237300@z34g2000cwc.googlegr oups.com... >I have never been thrilled with the longevity and performance of the > Michelin Energys that Honda provides stock on the 94-97 accord.
