Hi All: I have an Accord LX-V6 with just the manufacturer security system. In the event that one accidentally sets the alarm off, it is deactivated by either waiting for the 2 minute timeout, or by pressing unlock on the key which has the built in remote. Or it can also by turned off by manually sticking the key in the driver or passenger door and unlocking this. My question is this. The Accord also comes with a plain valet key which does not have the remote buttons on it. If the alarm were accidentally set off, could the valet key be used to manually unlock the door and thus turn off the alarm. Or does it not have special electronics needed to do this like the keys with built in remote? Just wondering before I try it! Thanks! Drew |

Nope, it should disarm by unlocking the driver's door in the key slot. -- ponchonutty ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ponchonutty's Profile: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...p?userid=94610 View this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=543411 http://www.automotiveforums.com |

If you do try it, make sure your car is in the garage with the door closed, so you don't piss off the neighbors ![]() --- avast! Antivirus: Outbound message clean. Okay...but will the valet key also disarm it? Or will only the key with built in remote (normal key) disarm it? Drew On Sun, 26 Mar 2006 13:54:21 -0800, ponchonutty <ponchonutty.25av7e@no-mx.nodomain.com> wrote: > >Nope, it should disarm by unlocking the driver's door in the key slot. |

It should disarm it just fine. It doesn't need a "signal" from the key. -- ponchonutty ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ponchonutty's Profile: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...p?userid=94610 View this thread: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=543411 http://www.automotiveforums.com |
