Hello Folks,
Please help me understand about what are all my options. Here is my sad story. We bought a Honda Accrod EX 2005 model on November 2005. We put in 3000 miles last week and took the car for the oil change..this where we got a heart attack...the local shop advised that, the oil leak everywhere around the transmission and they advised me that, it is very very unusual. And we took our car to the local Honda dealer to verify it, they also advised me that, they need to change the entire transmission. Here is our option, we or no one wants to touch our transmission in the 3000 miles. We talked to the dealer to know more about our options, they said, the dealer could buy it for a very very cheaper price as a used car. But we are kind of so disappointed about this car and we couldnt even believe this story. In the sametime, we dont want loose 4000 to 5000 bucks on this car to seel it to the dealer as a used car. Please guys helps us understand what do we need to do to get a favourable option towards the owners perspective. Is there anyway we might talk to the American Honda people to make our case strong and get us another car or do some favour on our side instead of loosing couple thousand dollars to sell it to the dealer. We are kind of so disappointed please help us understand the seriousnous of the problem. Please advice folks... |

I understand they will fix it...but, we are not feeling much
comfortable having this new car with the transmission fixed ....i have a question though...once the dealar fix this tranmission issue...If idecide to sell this car in the future, Is some one will be seeing in the CarFax history that, the transmission got fixed ? Please advice.... |

The transmission will not be fixed. It will be replaced. Honda had a bunch
of bad AT's a few years ago in their Acura and minivans. All were replaced with no future issues. <baski555@gmail.com> wrote in message news:1143310091.648774.198240@e56g2000cwe.googlegr oups.com... >I understand they will fix it...but, we are not feeling much > comfortable having this new car with the transmission fixed ....i have > a question though...once the dealar fix this tranmission issue...If > idecide to sell this car in the future, Is some one will be seeing in > the CarFax history that, the transmission got fixed ? > > Please advice.... > |

If you sell the car or trade it in your losing at least 25% of what you paid, or will pay. (Assuming you purchased rather than leased). If the car keeps giving you problems than you can talk to the dealer and if the dealer has no "good will" offer to make, then you can use the "lemon law" to get out of this particular car. |

Plenty of people are on their third and fourth transmissions, some of them being swapped out every week or two until they got a good one. Shame on Honda. |

A tranny can leak just cause some idiot did not get the gasket in the
right place. Honda trannies are not that vulnerable to leaks - but it does happen. A couple of years ago was on my belly in a Honda showroom looking at the underside of an Oddy to see where the oil drain/filter were located - real PITA on my 97 accord - have to jack her up to change the oil. The double digit iq sales turkey comes over and asks, "What are you doing under that Odyssey" - said it in a very nasty tone - he was working with a couple who were considering buying an Oddy - I said to the DD IQ sales turkey - "Since you asked in such a nice way - hey this tranny has a leak - tranny fluid is on the floor - better get that leak fixed before some sucker buys it." My 97 accord has 194 on the clock - no problems with the auto tranny except for replacing speed sensors - easy fix at about 140K. |

Thanks for all your valuable feedback on this. Well, let honda fix the transmission problem and keep it until it has a factory warrenty until 36K and sell it. None of the car is near perfect, understand ofcourse cars are assembled by human being. |
