Default Newbie Civic Questions

A friend of mine is selling her Honda Civic 30th anniversery SI Coupe.
I don't know a lot about cars, but I'm a very quick learner. I'm trying
to look up specs for that version of the Civic, and I can't seem to
find them anywhere. I want to know what's special about the 30th
edition compared to the regular version.
Also, this maybe a stupid question, but what's "SI" stand for. I know
it's the best model in the Civic class.

Another question: It's a on a lease that I am going to be taking over
for 13 months, so what should i look for? The buying price after the
lease is 10,000$ CND, is that decent for a 2003 civic model? or am i
going to be paying way too much?

Really appreciate any info you guys can throw my way.

SI means it comes with a VTEC engine. A little more zip than a regular civic.

I assume the lease payments are inthe neighbourhood of $375 a month, so the
calculation for cost of the vehicle is:

13 months x 375 (plus taxes?) = about $5000

PLUS

Lease buyout @ $10000

= $15000

These are selling in Winnipeg (where I live) for about 15000 - 18000. So
depending on the condition, it looks like it could be a good deal.

But what does it *really* mean? The "Si" designation may come with VTec
now, but the "Si" badge has been around before VTec. Could it be "Sport
Injection"? Thought I saw that years ago but not sure...

It might be helpful if you find out what the mileage is.

Thanks for responding..

The current milage is about 70,000k. The milage allowed on the lease is
94,000.. i think 24000k is enough for me.

It's been driven by a girl, not sure how hard she was on the car.. and
i'm not going to make any assumptions. It comes with momo racing
shifter, and a few other bells and whilstles.. but I can't find the
specs about the car anywhere.. IE, Horspower, MPG, brakes.. blah blah..

The lease is $330 a month, for 14 months (from march). I'm debating
whether i should invest 15000$ into this car. it will be my first car,
and i'll be learning starndard on it. I've ridden bikes for years, so i
know the concept, i won't burn out the cluch, but i'll need practice..

thanks again for the input..

Search for it (one like it I mean) on Autotrader.com. They have the specs
to most newer cars sold through them. Do a nationwide search and it's the
best way to get an idea what people are asking for the car. Better than
Kelly blue book in my opinion.

Actually I see some on Autotrader for 13.5K US 2003 46K miles. Didn't look
hard enough.

In canada, only the SI-R hatchback has the K20 2.0L DOHC 160HP engine. The
SI that the OP is referring to is a coupe (I think), and would come with a 1.
7L 128HP SOHC Vtec.

1.7 SOHC Ugh! Wow good to know. Those middle year civics, 2001-2005 aren't
particularly desirable in my mind. Was looking at a new Civic SI the other
day, it was all I could not to reach for my checkbook. It was HOT. Looks
like the dealer's getting more than list for it though.
