With wheels off, my road bike fits entirely within my '88 Jetta's trunk.
By eyeball, it looks like I can do the same in a'05 Civic, despite the the trunk being significantly smaller. However, the 2006 Civic trunk is smaller still. Now I'm getting skeptical. Has anyone actually know if either Civic has adequate trunk space? Taking both wheels off is fine but I would prefer to not have to fold the back seat down. All parts need to fit entirely in the trunk. The thought has occurred to me to bring the bike with me to the dealer. However, I doubt they will let my greasy bike into their nicely detailed trunk. -- Photos and travelogues from Africa and Southeast Asia: http://www.exile.org |

I have 2003 Civic and I can fit a 20" Specialized Hybrid in if I take
both tires off. If I leave the rear tire on, I have to put the seat down to fit it in. I was just at the dealer yesterday and 2006 Civic trunk looks larger than the 2003. Also, it looks like the 2006 Civic is very popular. The dealer only had one left. |

The '05 Civic has 12.9 cubic feet of trunk space. For '06 it is down to 12 cubic feet, not as reduced as what the reviews lead me to believe. By contrast, my '88 Jetta's trunk is 16.6 cubic feet. -- Photos and travelogues from Africa and Southeast Asia: http://www.exile.org |

Clean your bike and bring it down to the dealer. Just tell the salesman that if your bike doesn't fit you're not buying. If they are really anal, they can line the trunk with a plastic bag. Not a big deal. --------------- Alex |

Bring the bicycle and some trash bags. Wrap the bicycle in the trash bags for test fitting in the trunk if they are concerned about the grease on it. You may find the Fit to be of interest when it becomes available in a few months. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Timothy J.
