I've been reading some of the posts and my situation is similar with
the idle problem and such except as it has continued to get colder the problem has changed somewhat. Now when I start the car it wont even idle at 2000-2500. it simply cuts off- and then wont start again. I narrowed it down to the choke and tried holding my foot on the gas hoping that it would eventually idle at the correct rpm but all that happens is it stutters and runs extremely rich (the exhausts smells like gas, right?) and never reaches correct idle speed. I have, on more than a couple of occaisions sat there with my foot on the gas from anywhere from 20- 45 minutes with no results. Any advice would be helpful- |

Can you post some maintenance history? In particular:
Age of plugs, ignition wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter and air filter, and PCV valve? Are these parts all OEM? If they're over a few years or are non-OEM, I'd replace all. Report back. This is a carbureted car, right? Ever clean the carburetor? Is the coolant changed regularly, and purged of air properly (e.g. fan comes on twice, per the manual's procedure)? www.autozone.com has a free online manual for your Accord with a troubleshooting section for idle problems. I believe it's under "emission controls" or similar. <sterling78mb@yahoo.com> wrote > I've been reading some of the posts and my situation is similar with > the idle problem and such except as it has continued to get colder the > problem has changed somewhat.
