I got myself a girlfriend... so you know what that means! ... i get
the girl's car problems. *sigh*

well, here's the deal:
Check engine light's on: took it to Autozone and i get the codes:

P0401 - Insufficient flow in the Exhaust Gas Recirculaton (EGR) system
- i think i've run across this before. On our 91 Lincoln
Continental, there was a hose that was held by a metal loop, and the
oxidation (high road salt area here) caused the metal to constrict the
air flow. may be the same issue... but probably not. Any other ideas?

P0740 - A Malfunction exists in the electricalcircuit for the torque
converter clutch
- As far as i've read, this code is the "kiss of death" for the
honda transmission. However, it only has 133k miles and the tranny
shifts a little rough... This is my main concern.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

P0401 is a common problem. The egr port is carboned up. They need cleaned
out and the egr valve cleaned or replaced. Honda has extended warranty on
some of these to 80k but it won't help you.
V6? Honda has had lots of problems with their automatic transmission. Sounds
like yours is on the way out. P740 is the lockup control system. At 133k you
probably won't get any help from Honda but you could always try....

And I don't think it applied to the '97. Just the '98-'02 I believe.

Again, I don't think that version of Accord V6 was as known for tranny
failure as the '98-'02.

It's possible that the fluid is overdue for changing and/or the existing
fluid is not Honda fluid.
