Someone PLEASE HELP.. My girlfriend want me to ditch this car and I don't
want to buy an GM

90 Legend coupe. driver door won't open. heard something pop. Took it to the
dealera and they told me that the lock would have to be cut out of the
door.Â*Â*EitherÂ*letÂ*usÂ*useÂ*aÂ*airÂ*chiselÂ*or *takeÂ*itÂ*toÂ*aÂ*bodyÂ*shop.

We can get to all of the lever and locking mechanisms.

Does anybody have any other suggestions short of smashing the door with
sledge hammmer?

I think you're saying the interior panel is off, and the actuator rods
can be reached. If you've tugged on them and push/pulled on the door
(or did the dealer?) and it just won't open, then you've got bodywork
ahead of you. Latches can break like this. You'd be surprised how
much plastic there is in some of them, considering the force they're
designed to endure.

This is something like a $500 repair job instead of $200 if cutting is
involved. I'd take it somewhere else just to make sure their best
effort has been given.

It's a seized door. Better than a seized engine, for what that's worth.
