Default when to put synthic oil?

Just had my 2005 Accord changed oil for the first time 3000miles.
I brought 6 qt of Mobile 1 Synthetic oil to the dealer ready to start using
it but the service department recommended that I should use it at next oil
change instead of now??

I am not quite sure what he explained to me but I am pretty sure they are
not trying to save money because this is a free oil change as part of the
deal purchasing from them. I will assume that they would like to use my own
oil save them some...He also mentioned that I should put in Mobile 1 at 7500
miles and then change it every 7500 instead of 3750 (I am not clear about
this part of theory).

What is your opinion?

correct. in fact, you might have been better off waiting until the 7500
miles are up before the first change.

sounds good to me. id probably wait until 15000 just to make sure the
engine is fully broken in with the regular oil.

but yeah- wait til at least 7500 miles. maybe even longer.

The answer to your question: when to put synthetic oil?
Never.

Save your money and go out to dinner on the savings between cost of the two
oils.
Your Honda engine was designed for petroleum based oil. It can last a minimum
of 250k miles; if serviced regularly, as Honda recommends. There are many
Hondas driving around with high mileage and I'd wager that few have used
synthetic oil... Many of them have probably had less than consistent
maintenance... to boot!

Remember this: Contamination and/or dirt is the enemy.

ALL oil gets dirty and contaminated, (yes, even expensive synthetic oil.) So
why would you put synthetic oil in your engine, then not change it for 25k
miles, as some synt/oil packagers' suggest?

not that synthetic would hurt anything, of course. i have no qualms
using synthetic and changing every 7500 miles.

if hes going to keep changing every 3000 miles? sure.
