I have a wondererful honda accord 1999 with 60,000 miles i have never had a
problem with it until now. On two occassions 8/18 it wouldn't start.The
vehicle would crank but not turn over.I sat for 58 minutes in my car even
called a tow truck and then it started fine.Took my car to the
mechanic,they checked all the codes to find out that nothing was wrong it
kept starting,They found nothing wrong with it.So it started up fine.It
didn't duplicate it at the mechanics.So a month later i get in my car
again and it hesitates to start then it dies.This time it only takes 39
minutes for it to start.I took it back again and advised them no lights
come on except the lights showing the trunk and car doors.Again it is put
on the machine and no codes are found.Why is it every 20 days my honda
randomly won't start.I am nervous now to go anywhere for fear it may do
the same thing again.Does anyone know what may be causing this or what i
can have them look for to remedy the situation.The problem is that once it
is started it is fine, for a couple of weeks then it will do it again.

Wow we've been seeing this problem a bunch, you got the old Honda main
relay-itis.

Next time it happens, press the accelerator pedal half down and retry
starting.

If it now restarts, try running some good injector cleaner through the car
for a couple of fill ups; It could be that an injector is leaking and floods
the engine periodically. Injector cleaner will most likely clear it up.

I agree with Remco (because it happened to my Odyssey)

It's in the owner's manual under 'how to start the engine' It's flooding
when it sits for a day or so.

is the battery original? has it had the ignition switch recall done?

I will try the fuel injector the battery is original and has been checked.I
got the car back from the dealer and again they couldn't find anything.They
have checked the wires relay switch i have taken the car to the dealer a
year ago about the recall so that is not it.No one has any idea why it is
doing this

Checked how? Was a load test performed on it? Since the battery is 7 years
old, I'd say it won't be long before it needs to be replaced.

As others have mentioned, perhaps it's just flooded from not being used for
a while. If it happens again, hold the gas pedal down half way while
starting the car (it could take up to 15 seconds).

I doubt it is the main relay. I thought Honda resolved that issue about 10
years ago.
