I have owned my 1992 Civic DX for about 2 yrs & somewhere in the 1st yr
I noticed that the boots which cover the inner steering tie rod joints were shot (but there was grease in the joints). I now feel that I'd better get the steering fixed. The tie rods with attached boots are not extremely expensive. There are also little clip/bushing devices that are part of these joints and presumably these will be needed. But before I talk to a mechanic about this, in your experiences will the rack ends be OK? Or if a mechanic tells me that I need a whole new steering unit, will he be likely telling the truth?
