I have a 92 honda civic that won't start. It was running fine, then while
on the freeway the car just kind of shut down. I lost power, my speed and rpm's went lower no matter how hard I pushed the gas. I pulled over to the side of the road and the car shut off. I tried to restart the car and it acted like it was out of gas. A road warrior came and said that it sounded like the fuel pump went out. My dad has checked the car over and said that the fuel pump is working. I have fire going to the spark plugs. Just about everything under the hood is new, cap, radiator, motor head, belts. We put a new ICM in thinking that it would be that. Anyone have any other suggestions. |

If so, remove the valve cover and inspect the Timing belt, and the cam timing. You should probably be on your third belt, or at very least the second one. You timing belt may have slipped a tooth or three. Very expensive if it goes too far. See tegger's faq about peach baskets (use google). . . tegger faq peach basket. Inspect distributor for red rust (google that too if you find it) 'Curly' |

Thanks Curly,
My dad said that there is electric going to the distributor. He has looked at the timing belt and it is new, it was changed when I got the head fixed, he said that the cam is alittle off but that should not have anything to do with the car starting it should just make the car run rough. When the car was running when in park or neutral the rpm would go up and down. Are there any other things that can be wrong? Oh and he said that he checked the filter under the fuel pump. Thanks Nikki |

When the car > was running when in park or neutral the rpm would go up and down. This erratic RPM at stops is symptomatic of a failing distributor coil. Very common item to have fail. > Are > there any other things that can be wrong? Oh and he said that he checked > the filter under the fuel pump. |

Good way to damage the coil. Just remove the oil filler cap and observe there. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

Or both fuel pressure regulator or check valve causing a drop in fuel pressure. Check for fuel and spark to make sure they are actually normal.. |
