As I understand this, you have a '91 Accord with a replacement manual transmission. There is a humming noise that only occurs at or below 5mph. You cannot shift into third gear, but you can shift into any of the lower gears. Questions: 1) Can you shift into 4th and 5th? 2) Does the noise happen if you're accelerating, decelerating, or coasting? 3) When you say "cylinold", are you referring to the MASTER or SLAVE cylinders? 4) Has the cylinder that has "gone out" been replaced? It is odd that you can't change into 3rd, but you can into the lower gears. Usually it's the lower gears (especially reverse) that people have trouble with. At first blush, I'd say to 1) Check for loose heat shields on the exhaust, or for other loose parts that may vibrate, and 2) change the oil for genuine Honda MTL, and see if the noise changes. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |

Check the fluid level. Get a flush and refill with appropriate fluid. If noise persists, go see a good garage. Strange noises in an automatic often mean serious problems. -- TeGGeR® The Unofficial Honda/Acura FAQ www.tegger.com/hondafaq/ |
